Default 4th Gen Clutch Fan Removal

I realize it is a small/quick job, but I have never tackled this before and was wondering if someone could give me a quick step by step (pics would be great if available) of how to do it....

THANKS!!!

If you don't have the tools or time just take it to your local shop or auto repair joint and have them spin it off. They shouldnt charge you more than 20 or 30 bucks. Now having said this you need a 180 T-stat it's a must and you may need to get a diablo sport tuner so you can set the fan temps on your e-fan.

Mine was on there decently so i had to put a fan wrench on it and tapped it with a hammer while my coworker held the belt to keep the water pump pulley from spinning

Mine was super easy to get off, when I went to break it loose, the wrench flew off and slammed the ground

Make sure you store the fan sitting upright, like it sits on the truck. Don't want the fluid getting messed up.

Taking the lower shroud off was easy, then the fan is right there, pull it out the bottom.

Remove the lower fan shroud (it's just snapped in place, really easy to remove). Then use a wrench (I actually used a crescent but I wasn't at my house with my tools...it's best to use a regular wrench) on the large "nut" between the fan and the water pump, it loosens normally (threads are normal, not reverse threaded). You may need to shove a rag in between the belt and pulley to keep it from spinning or put a wrench/ratched on the belt tensioner or somewhere else and hold it at the same time you loosen the fan nut, to keep the pulley from spinning. Mine literally came off with like two fingers worth of force.

IMO the 180 tstat isn't a MUST, but is a great idea. I've been running with the stop tstat no problems but I do have the efan adjusted. My temps are actually cooler with the efan.

IMO it is a MUST to adjust the efan settings to have it turn on around the tstat temp. I currently have mine set at 206 deg F because the engine rarely cools below 200 deg F and the superchips requires a 6 deg F drop in temp for the fan to shut back off.
