Default 2001 ram 1500 2wd tranny

hi guy's. i need some info on tranny interchange. my 01 ram is slipping and a guy i know has one from a 99 will it work in my 01 and is there any stuff to look for as in not being a bolt in deal? help please.

Same engine? Bolt it up? Different engine? Use the flexplate matching the engine.

Check trans series number under hood or in glove box and on trans they should be the same for both years. And they should bolt right up.

thanks guy's. mine is a 318 the one the tranny's on is a 360. i will just use my flexplate right? so there's no difference in the 99 compared to my 01?

Yeah, as long as they are both the 46RE, and they should be, all ya need to do is swap 'em. Use your 318 flexplate. If for some reason you were to accidentally frag your flexplate, knock the balance weight off the 360 unit and use it.

The big difference is when they went to OBD II in '96. From there they're the same.
