I doubt you are going to see much gain. Beyond the exhaust you would need to get and larger intake and probably a programer to see much difference. Realisticlly you may see some performance gain, but your MPG gain will probably not be more than .5mpg, which in relation to how much you pay for the upgrades it won't be worth the price difference.

Just had my factory Y-Pipe cut out and put on a DynoMax Hi-Flo. I also have a SuperChips programmer running the 91 tune on 93 octane gas. My mpg's were not consistent enough before to make this scientific, but I was getting between 15-18 before the programmer and 16.5-18 after. I'll let you know in the next couple weeks what the exhaust does to it. I'm really not expecting much, but if you want to do it anyway every little bit helps.

It helps but minimal, especially by itself. Some claim up to 5 mpg increase with intake, exhaust, tuner while others say none. I've done the tuner and noticed maybe 1 mpg better city.

I've had some time with my exhaust now and I've also put a CAI (K&N) on since I last posted on this thread. It seems that right after I make a change, I get crappy mileage for the first tank or two then it starts to improve. Just filled up today and with the exhaust I mentioned previously and the CAI with the Superchips 87 Tune, running 87 Octane I got 17.5 MPG. This is basically the same as I was getting before any of the mods. I'm hoping to see a little more improvement, but I don't really expect anything. That was the third full tank after the CAI so I'm probably pretty well leveled out now. The truck does seem to run a lot stronger now and I think if you are doing exhaust, you should be required to do the intake at the same time.

An exhaust will give you better sound and an increase in MPG...there is a reason why it is such a popular mod
