Angry Dps plz help

I have a DPS since early spring & its been it my closet for most of the time.
My problem is as soon as i install the 87 tune my truck rattles like crazy underneath the truck. everything seems to be fine till i add the tune if i remove it it stops as soon as i install it the rattle is back.

I don't have much experience with this & i'm not the most educated with this product. i purchased it because i thought it was plug and play.

I paid enough for it & really want it to work, i don't want to sell it i know i will lose money.

has anyone had this issue or similar? Does anyone have any tips for me.
it seems to shift better with the program, but i'm not sure about MPG i haven't left it plugged in long enough i'm scared i'm damaging the truck in some way.

If anything is rattling do not install it or drive it until someone else can chime in.

Not sure if this is your issue or if it would cause a rattle but you stated it's been in the closet. Did you update the software on the Trinity before updating your truck?

yes i have the latest update! i also thought it was the mufflex i installed so i removed it & still the same issue. Thought it was those muffler guards not sure that's what it's called thought one was loose but no dice there either.
I wish i could find someone around me to help with this issue.
Anyone think it could be a timing issue making the rattle noise?

Could the rattle be cylinder rattle? I know your running the 87 tune but what if you got hold of crap gas or gas that has water in it. I can't think of anything with the tune itself that would cause any rattling but then again there are things in tuning that I don't know squat about. Since the 87 tune is still a performance tune gas could be the issue.

i have used different octane gas & different tunes with the same result. I have also used gas from several different gas stations.

Are you hearing a rattle from the engine? I has this problem about a month ago. It was pinging real bad. sounded like the rocker arms were beating the hell out of the top of the valves. that was with a 91 tune with 93 oct fuel. i went back to the 87 tune and it was way better. i havent installed the 91 tune back in it yet. but i think it was just bad fuel since that was the 1st time it did that.

If the engine is rattling and pinging, it doesn't like that lean of a burn. Richen the mixture (there's a how to on adding fuel with the predator here), get a tune done by an authorized CMR tuner, or up the octane you put in the truck.

The last one is an immediate fix that works. My HEMI hated 87 octane fuel from day one. It almost refused to run. With 89 it ran better but no where near what it should. I run a 91 tune now with 92 octane fuel.

No pinging, no rattling, just great performance. And, I get better mileage!

No way I can afford 91 octane gas. Have you seen the gas prices here!!
I will try to change the gas mixture & see what happens. I feel that i wasted money buying this thing it has spent more time in the closest then programmed to my truck.
thx for everyone help.

Naw...they aren't a waste of money. They work great but your probably just doesn't like 87 octane fuel. Mine doesn't. It runs horribly on it. If you are putting on the MPG tune, that's pretty lean for your engine.

I know gas is expensive but is it so expensive that you are willing to go back to stock or run 87 octane fuel and a tune, then listen to it rattle? Tough value decision for sure.

This is just my personal view but I'd rather have a good performing truck and pay for what it needs to run good vs. going back to stock or risking damage.

Good luck
