Default A bigger hemi?

I've got the 5.7 and would like to swap in the 8.1. Does anyone see any problems? I should think the stock ECU would work...

What 8.1L are you talking about? I don't know of any dodge made 8.1L, only the chevy 8.1L V10. Dodge has the 8.3L Viper which is in the SRT-10, then there's the 8.0L gas V10 out of the 98-2002 HD trucks.

Perhaps I misspoke. I should have said the 392 (new) hemi from the challenger.

Thats a 6.4L. They make crate engines with aftermarket ecm's as a swap plug and play. They have normal hemis all the way up to a "440 hemi" that makes like 650hp. Its bouchillion performance i think? Just google it

Right now I don't know too many places that are installing the new 392 as of yet, simply because of the tuning issues. You'd need to use a '10 computer, and possibly swap the tranny along with a TCM and driveshaft. If you're loking for bigger cubes, I'd definately get ahold of the guys at Arrington, PWR, or Inertia Motorsports, they routinely build 5.7L based 392s and 6.1L based 426s and 440s. Those would be your best bet if you're looking to drop the $ on a swap as they're tried and true methods of making serious power with great customer service.

Apparently the new 392 is based/more related to the 09+ 5.7 than the 6.1, which sucks because the 6.1 is a much herkier block. My long term plan is to build a nice 6.1 based stroker hooked to an ATS 545RFE (someday).
