Default Cruise control shut off after big bump?!?!

Have any of you experienced your cruise control shutting off after hitting a large bump in the road.

I recently replaced my rear shocks with Bilstein 4600 shocks. I went on a 500 mile road trip and every time I hit a large bump like a bridge seam my cruise control would shut off.

I changed the rear shocks because the truck would kind of jump and be a little squirly after hitting the same size of bump. This did not really improve after the shock change. I am getting ready to change the front struts as well I'm just waiting for a decent day.

I don't know if I need to replace more rear suspension parts to solve the jumping and new cruise control issues or if I should wait to do anything else until I get the front Bilstein 4600 struts in place. I am trying to figure out if getting the front and rear shocks working optimally will make a difference or if I have a bigger issue.

Any input would be helpful. This is a troubling issue and it kinda scares me and makes me question my safety.

Thanks in advance.

My old truck used to do that.

It was caused by the brake light switch. The brake light switch is mounted under the dash, on the steering column with a plunger sort of thing that your brake pedal touches when depressed.

Cruise controls are designed to turn off if you press the brakes... safety thing.

I just had to loosen and readjust my switch to give slightly more clearance from the brake pedal arm to the plunger in the switch... no more problems.

My cruise control has shut itself twice in 46,000 miles, both times because of bumps
That is not enough for me to worry about it

if the tire loses contact and spins, that will also shut down the cruise.
