Default Any thoughts on spacers?

anybody here use wheel spacers?
mainly, the bolt on ones that have their own lugs to attach the wheel to.
are their any pros/cons? how do they affect driving? i figure the wider wheelbase makes it more stable, but any other effects?

such as these ones from ezaccessory.com

They are a viable tool for two things: moving your backspacing of your current rims by more than 1/4" safely, and for changing your lug pattern. Yes, the wider wheelbase is more stable, but you are putting a torsional load on your hub and suspension by moving the load out beyond the centerline; you will end up with a slight negative camber. Also,if you lower the vehicle, it will make you more susceptible to rubbing on the inner fender.

They ARE the best way to move the wheel out from the hub, so if you're looking to do it and can't find rims with the negative backspacing you want, then go for it. I recommend using red locktite on your lugnuts and torque them to ensure even pressure on the plate, don't just use an impact gun. Then you can treat the other studs like normal, but I still recommend torquing them, and not using an impact.

ty for the reply cdnoil

blk, they bolt to the hubs using the holes just like your wheels do, then the wheels bolt to the spacers via the studs with nuts on the spacer.

I use them on my Grand National. It makes 2x the power of these trucks and has never had an issue. I use 1.25" btw.

On my 2010 4x2 Ram 1500 I'm looking at the amount of meat of tread and it would seem like it can accomodate a 1/2 inch spacer.

How many times would you guyz say the nut needs to spin to be considered safely attached securely/safely to bolt?

Any drawback to having my stock 2010 chrome clad rims stick out an extra 1/2 .. alignment? handling? mpg cost?

something like this:

stock below without the 1/2 inch (non bolt on) wheel spacer.

Thanks!

Looking at getting 1.5 " spacers to my 2019 classic, i like the look and style of the stock black 20" rims and would like them to stick out a little more. especially after adding in some fender flares

I've got 1.5" Bora Hubcentric spacers for my winter rims (with OEM Sport 20's) to push my wheels out a bit so they don't look lost with my Bushwacker Fender Flares.
