My Dodge has issues...

Noticed a miss upon start. Always goes away in about 10 seconds or so. I stated getting codes p0308 and about once a week p0208. I know what the codes are. I have changed injectors, plugs and coil packs. Still keep getting p0308 and once and awhile p0208. Clear codes and keep coming back.

Always cylinder 8, never another.

Took it to the shop to put on machine. Nothing. All fine. No misses and no codes. Take home. Bam. Engine miss and codes. Back to shop. Nothing. Back home, yup, missing upon start and code. What was the difference?

Figured it out. In the time it takes for the diag to connect to ecu and then start, there would be no codes or misses.

So now, if I turn ignition on for about 10 seconds and then start, no misses or codes. All fine. Jump in and start with no wait, engine miss for a few seconds and a code.

What can it be? ECU/PCM?

The 4.7's and 3.7's are noted for having a valve seat issue. The seat will drop, and in some cases get wedged below the valve, which causes a compression drop. I've found that sometimes they just get loose and move in and out. On the 3.7L Liberty I had it didn't give me a change in my cold compression, but a misfire code upon running the vehicle.

I doubt it's a valve issue. if it was it would show up for more than 10 seconds. My 03 is having a misfire issue as well. No codes but rough idle with some stalling but not all the time. Sometimes, ( usually when it's in the shop) it runs good. Heve been told it could be a sensor, or the PCM or the plug between the PCM and the fuse box can have corrosion. Hopefully we'll get this figured out because it's driving me nuts.

Really aggravating. But if I wait 10-15 seconds with ignition on, then start, everything is good. If it wasn't so darn expensive to try another pcm, I would do that but lot of money for a "test".
