Hey folks, today I noticed that after starting my truck and going to pull off, it was kind of sluggish to get going like the transmission wasn't fully engaged then after only a few hundred yards, it felt like I had hit something with a cluck from the tranny. I went back home and read the code: P0700 which really don't tell me a lot except it is THE TCM. I was going pretty slow when this occurred and even went back out for a short drive after reading the code and it did it again. Feels like a clunk but not being a mechanic thought I'd ask if anyone here has experienced something like this. Tag on tranny reads RFE.

Howdy, Tony, and welcome to the Ram ForumZ. I invite you to stop by the Newbie Checkin section and introduce yourself so other members can give you a proper howdoyado.

Could be a solenoid, could be a clutch, could be a ... fill in the blank. Not a big tranny guy, but hopefully a tranny guy will chime in.

Thanks and this morning I rechecked the codes again after a very short drive and now have P0700 , P0700 PD , P0888 , P0846 , P0871 , P0988 . Looked them all up on the net and think I'm Screwed. Took the truck in this a.m. to the dealer. $102 just to read the codes and they will call when the tech gets the info. This is going to hurt!

Yes it is! Had to have my tranny rebuilt a couple years ago. They couldn't fix it, so I basically got a new tranny. Had them redo the rear end as well. Total out the door was $3400 and change. But, it still beats a truck payment.

P0888 (Relay Output Always Off) is the key. You lost your 12V power feed to the trans (from the trans relay). That will cause all the other pressure switch faults as well.

So I do NOT think you have a transmission problem. You have a trans relay and/or wiring problem. Need to get an electrical guy to diagnose and repair the P0888 fault. That will likely clean up all the other ones.
