hello, i am new to the forum! if I may, this is an awesome and very infomational site, with knowledgable people.

Problem: My radio started turning off while driving a few months ago, would come back on and off as it wanted to. I lived with it. But now, my [COLOR=blue !important][COLOR=blue !important]battery[/COLOR][/COLOR] is draining and noticed that my dome lights were staying on even after I had locked the truck with remote. Also, the door ajar light was staying on, although my [COLOR=blue !important][COLOR=blue !important]key[/COLOR][/COLOR] was not in the ignition. I removed fuse #51 for the radio, cluster and dome lights. I had to jump the truck off for a couple of weeks, if I did not start it daily. [COLOR=blue !important][COLOR=blue !important]Installed[/COLOR][/COLOR] new battery with no luck and now it just clicks when I try to jump it, after it drains the battery. Please Help! I love my baby and want her running again.

You have a ground problem somewhere.
Circle circuit in by pulling the fuses.
Can be a ground, blank wire or tipm.
Did you messed with the electric before? Other radio, lights, or other stuff? If yes, that's where to look.
If not, its more difficult and without electric knowledge, let somebody do it who knows what he's doing.

Yeah, what Chris said. You've got a draw on the battery somewhere. Also sounds like you've got a bad door switch. That could the source, at least a source, of the problem. The best way is to make sure everything is off and closed. Disconnect the positive cable from the battery and hook a meter with an amp reader between your positive post and your positive cable. See how much of a draw it has. If it has more than 5ma, then you have an issue. Pull each fuse out 1 by one until you see the draw go away. This will tell you what system is drawing current from your battery and go from there.

The only thing I can add to this is I had a similar problem that ended up being the ignition switch. I would turn the truck off and get out. Lock the doors and come back a few hours or a day or two later and bam..dead.
I could not figure it out for a while. It turned out that my ignition switch was the problem. When I turned the truck off everything would turn off..then a couple seconds later it would turn the radio back on as if the key was turned to the accessory position.
I have to watch that every time I get out of the truck that i almost "wiggle" the key to prevent it tipping over into accessory or the radio will turn back on and drain my battery.

It may be completely different than your issue; and it likely is, but I thought it might be worth looking into.

Problem Solved!

Sorry for long delay in replying. After replacing several items, starter, alternator, battery, door switch and fuse assembly wiring, being sick of it for a couple of weeks, dont laugh to much. the battery was the first of the purchased items, although brand new, it had a bad cell in it. My baby is top notch now, running very well.:doh::smileup:
