not sure if this has been asked. could not find a thread.

2005 RAM 1500 SLT 5.7 HEMI Magnum.

experiencing clicking when driving. sounds either from under car or egine, cannot pin point exact location.

clicking/ticking occurs:

-when pressing on the gas starts around 1000rpm.
-sound increases in speed as i accelerate.
-clicking gets louder with speed increase until around 3500 rpm when the sound -is fast but not as loud (probably just harder to hear over the engine)

clicking/ticking DOES NOT occur:

- when cruising (maintaining speed) at any speed.
- at idle
- when in neutral and the engine is rev'd

oil has been checked and changed, recently passed safety and etest.
i dont think it could be a leak because it just passed the emissions test.

ive read it could be the lifters or ujoint or even the fuel injectors. but really i am only staring to learn

if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appricated.

I would open the hood at night and look for light/ spark / flame from the exhaust manifolds. (lotsa threads here about manifold leaks.)
Possibly a shorted spark plug wire, also visible at night.
You state noise only under load: Did you get a bad batch of gas, and have pre-ignition? - maybe try Seafoam, or a tank of good quality premium.
Poor oil pressure or a failing lifter or a vacuum leak or a milion other causes could make a click/tick sound. Start with the free and easy checks first, before you start throwing money at parts and pieces. JM2C

Did you ever figure out what the issue was? My '08 is doing the exact same thing. Would love to know what you found out!
