Has anyone painted, powdercoated, plasticdipped there 20" chrome wheels. I'm looking for some ideas and would love to see some pics of what you've done. Here is a pic of the ones i'm talking about, actually these may be reproductions but you get the idea. I'm not a real big fan of the chrome or chromeclad look but havn't seen any pictures of these wheels painted, etc on here that i can find. Thanks!:Hey:

I don't know anything about these trucks...just found them on the world wide web.

Here's a white quad cab on cardomain with plasti-dipped flower petals.

And here's a black quad cab with some very unique flower pedals! I was a little uncertain just seeing the rim but I think they look great on the truck.

Are those wheels actual chrome or chrome clad? If they are chrome clad I don't think you could powdercoat them. Not sure how the cladding would hold up to being baked.

*EDIT*
Grrrr.... I don't quite understand why we can't link to certain other Dodge forums. Are we competing or something?

Just do a google image search for "plasti-dipped flower petals". It's the first two pics.

Thanks, this is what is was looking for. I had no idea they were called flower petals. I'm not sure it they are chrome or clad. I hav'nt given them a close look yet. I'll have to check that out 1st. I like the plastidip ones but think a gloss black may look better. the nice thing about plastidip is its cheap and can be pealed off.

Thanks again for the info!:smiley_thumbs_up:

No problem. People call them flower petals because of their resemblance and to distinguish between those and the newer 5-spoke chrome wheels. I'm not sure but I think I remember something about some or all of the older ones being actual chrome. It's fairly easy to tell. Just go tap on it with the flat part of your fingernail. You should be able to tell if it sounds and feels solid and metallic versus a dull, plastic feel. Powdercoating may not be what you want anyway because I don't think you can achieve a gloss finish with powercoating...probably more of a satin. Plasti-dip would definitely be the cheapest and most durable.
