My 07 Hemi powered Dodge, when its been sitting turned off, like over night, or during the day at work, I start it up, then put it in gear (drive or reverse, same thing issue) it drops into gear hard. Like, it has slack, then spins to catch up then thud. Once it has done it, it won't do it again.

Thinking maybe converter?

I should mention that I didn't really notice this till after I put my Diablo intune on the truck. Maybe the trans tune increasing the pressure make it take longer to drop into gear?

Try taking the tuner back off and try it again. If it is fine then it is tuner related, if not check the tranny fluid. How many miles on the tranny? Have you done a fuid and filter change?

Truck has 114k on it, I'd assume the trans has the same. The fluid looks clean, but I'm planning on doing a fluid and filter on it soon.

Good call, I'll turn the tuner off and see what happens.

I would also check your U-joints to make sure there isn't slop in them. Oh, and if your tuner is bumping the cold idle speed up (higher than normal) that will probably give you a clunk / bang on engagement.

I did notice a higher cold start idle, wonder if I can turn that down?
