As the title states I'm now burning a qt of oil per 700-800~ miles. Engine was rebuilt 40K miles ago. Tiny bits of smoke under full throttle, but none on start up. Coolant is not contaminated and at full level. Compression test as follows.

#1 - 171
#2 - 172
#3 - 174
#4 - 180
#5 - 179
#6 - 174
#7 - 180
#8 - 183

Cylinder #2 has a little bit of oil build up but the others all look great. I assume it's either gotta be bad valve seals or a bad oil ring? Any other suggestions or things to check?

Just did some more testing today and found that while driving it doesn't seem to smoke but if I sit and idle for a minute or two then it will start to smoke when I take off (like at a stop light)

My past experience says that tends to be valve seal related. The oil can sit in top of head and leaks down valve stems. Here is the allowable rates of usage.
