I guess some things are to be expected on a new design especially with the techie stuff, but wondering if anyone else has these issues with the 12" Uconnect system. Seems mostly to be SAT radio related.

1. Loses connection to SIRIUS: On start will not connect with SIRIUS and revert back to the demo channel

2. Occasionally switches to FM radio: Sometimes if the radio was on SAT radio when the truck was turned off, when it is started again the radio switches to FM

3. SAT Radio sometimes has a blank screen: Have to switch the input and go back before the channel info shows

4. "Device not connected" error: Not sure what this is. The only device I connect is my phone and it was showing as connected.

Picked mine up yday evening. I had it reverting to demo channel for the first 2-3 startups. after that ....all is well. All day today, all was well. Check this out, my wife had her screen in her Mercedes totally freeze for over 3 months. It's all over the Mercedes forum. Guess what ....it wasn't a Mercedes issue. It was Sirius/XM....they sent an update that froze the screens and ppl couldn't even use their back up cameras.

I hope you get things working well for you. I'm sure a simple flash or even a Sirius/XM refresh could help. I had to send myself refreshes in my GM all the time.

I have few of those issues too. You can just hit the screen off button and turn it back on and the blank screen will come back. My device connected problem is very infrequent. Ive had the demo thing come up a few times and then switches to my station. I’m not too worried, a update will come out fixing a lot of issues.

I didn’t have those issues but what happened was that the screen turned black. I could not turn it back on (although backup camera came on when on Reverse). Turning off the engine for about 30 min seemed to fix it. This has happened twice, but the second time instead of being black, it had the XM logo on a dark screen that would not go away. Wondering if it was XM update also. Hopefully a Uconnect update will fix the bugs. Other than that, it has been fine. So much better than my last Mercedes head unit, it’s not even funny...

This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before March 27, 2018 (MDH 0327XX)equipped with Uconnect 12.0 With Navigation (Sales Code UAX or UCX)


Clearly states Uconnect 12.0 UAX and UCX are sales codes for the 12 inch.



I can't see the bulletin that applies to the 12" screen? Am I missing it?

Clearly states Uconnect 12.0 UAX and UCX are sales codes for the 12 inch.
If you are referring to the bulletin that clearly states the following:
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:Customers may experience one or more of the following:•Navigation screen stuck on loading screen with 5 dots.•Navigation is inoperable.

I don't see that reported in this thread?

I haven't had issues 1-3 with my 12" and have used XM pretty extensively (I've got about 20 driving hours on the truck)

I do have the "device not connected" which pops up 25% of the time, hitting OK or the X closes the window and my phone seems to always connect with bluetooth. I feel like this might be remote-start related but haven't tried to reliably reproduce the issue.

Does the unit report current software version somewhere? As above, there IS an update already. My truck may have been made after the cutoff.

I'm only having the issue of it sending back to Preview in SAT. Others aren't something I've run across. I only have 30 miles on it however...

I’ve been dealing with CarPlay not working for over a month. Dealership says FCA is not being cooperative and won’t send a replacement unless certain diagnostics done which are ones dealer already performed..poor customer service from FCA.

Haven’t received your message. STAR should send replacement radio to dealership for installation ASAP. It’s obviously not a software fix but defective product.

Has anyone put a smudge/finger proof cover on the 12" screen? If so, what kind and where did you get it?

I too am having a problem with my 12" screen on my 2019 RAM 2500 Limited Cummins. It is constantly switching inputs, I have video of it taking place that I have sent to my service manager at Ram of Ontario Calif. It makes using the radio or phone virtually unusable. Ontario Ram told me that there may be an update to fix it but has no idea when that update is available. This is very frustrating not being able to listen to radio or make phone calls.....
