Hi.

My car locked itself this morning, while the engine was running.
Took me a good 12h before I hade my sparekey delivered.

Know my question is, could something have gone bad?
I was checking the engine temp all the time, steady as it should be, so no worries there.

But, now when i start it up, it says "oil change due"

Due to what?
The car is imported to sweden, with an spanish handbook, so i don´t understand anything of what it says...

Hope some of you got the asnwers I want to hear?!

All that meens is that you need to get your oil changed, no big deal. Take it to dealer and they will do an oil change and reset the light after they are done.
Ok, I was hoping so, but did´t understand the word " due " ?
Is there any way to turn the oil-change light off myself?
Thinking about changing the oil + filter on my own...

Turn the key on but don't start it, press the gas pedal to the floor three times and cut the key off. When you turn the key back on the light should be off. This is if I remember the procedure correctly lol

Best thing you can do is order a Manual. You might be able to download it but not sure. Google is your friend.

If your truck in brand new and never had the oil changed, I would get the dealer to do it and have them check the truck out (nothing to do with the idle time but just to check the truck out). If my truck was brand new and idled for 12 hours I would get it changed, no telling what's floating around in there.

If a oil change is NOT due yet
You can reset the light notice easily

turn the key to "on" without starting your truck and push the gas down fully three times within 10 seconds & then turn the key back off. When you do start it after that, if you did it correctly, the light will be off

Love these forums!

The truck has 25k miles on it, so some services been done already.
But atleast I know how to reset it if i want to! thanks!

Anyone has anything more to say about my original concern?
The long idle time...

One guy told me it could cause poor lubing to the crankshaft?

As long as your engine and oil temps were good I wouldn't worry about it.

Poor lubing to your crankshaft is never good! Ever.

The only concern with long idle times is condensation building in the engine and exhaust gasses getting into the oil. This is why the computer told you an oil change is now needed. After a long idle a good long highway run is always a good idea as it will burn off any moisture in an engine.

Just stop and think about the hours & hours that emergency vehicles idle on site (in the US) every day without a problem.
Don't worry, no harm.
The owners manual will be available on line. {dodge.com} Use the manual for required service intervals.

It should be fine, but I'm curious about something off topic, you say you are in Sweden, how much is fuel there and how much is it to fill up =,just wondering

Haha, as a fact I´m also in my wintercabin, 5h from civilisation, so right here, the fuel is 2,95 dollar / liter somewhere close to 9,88 / gallon =)

But I can now tell you that 12h in idle equals about 20 liters..!

Manuals in Paper? Call Dodge/Ram Toll-Free...?

I bought mine new and it came with a CD - no manuals at all. I wanted the paper... Luckily, in the glovebox was a card that informed me that I could call a toll-free number (in the USA) to have them mail me a set of paper manuals if I wanted them. Of course, I made that call. See if you have such a paper in your truck - assuming you bought it new as first owner, etc...

+1 on that just change your oil and filter, and everything else should be fine

Yeah that truck is smart! It said to itself..."hmmmm a human has let me run for 12hrs without moving me an inch....I will teach him a lesson to not mess with the RAM, make him change the oil and filter...turn that on now! Done..burn as much gas as possible...done....make him constantly keep an eye on me wondering if all is good...done, then make him ask his fellow buddies on the forum if anything else could be wrong...done!

God Bless The RAM!!!!
