I searched on the forums but couldn't find anything really detailed. I need to find 12v power that is switched by the ignition. It's for a radar detector. In my last car I had a fuse box inside that was easy to grab power. I really don't want to run a wire all the way to the fusebox under the hood. Where you getting power from around the steering column? This is my first ram..and still trying to figure things out. Thanks

Just tap into the back of the 12V outlet beside the radio, on mine it is by the driver's right knee. There are special connectors you can use to do this I am sure they will have them at Can Tire.

If you are looking to semi-permanently mount your detector then use the Bayou Goat Mount, your wires can easily be routed through the mounting area and there is more than ample room to work. I am assuming that you can legally have a detector, hence the visible mounting.

Hi thanks.. The 12v power I am plugging the coiled cigarette lighter into is inside the box section inside the center column by the cup holders. There's an actual plug below the radio but its ac power. I am not really sure how I can access that 12v power. Ya I am pretty sure we can have them here.. I am going to mount it to my rear view mirror and run the wire up the pillar and along the top of the windshield.

Does any one know how to get power recpts. to be powered on all the time for cell phone charging and power cooler .My last truck had cigar lighter power all the time this one not so much

saw post on another forum that showed mounting the radar detector to bottom of mirror, then hardwiring into the auto dimming mirror power wires. they also mentioned a site that made a plug and play connector. will find later and post

Pull up on the chrome trim around the cup holder. There are two screws under the rubber insert at the front of the console. There are two more under the inserts in the cup holders. Hope this helps.

IIRC only the outlet for the rear seats can be changed to power all the time. That is fuse F90 moved to position F91.

I just looked I have no power outlet in back seat Is there supposed to be one in Big Horn? My 1500 BH has one but not the 2500

I believe it would depend on the trim and the seats in the front (stand to be corrected). If you have a centre console (buckets) there should be an outlet facing the back seats on the console.

I have bench seat in 2500 and buckets in 1500 that probably why. Thanks I'm going to see if I can pop front one out and hard wire it hot.
