My 04 1500 4.7 came stock with 17 rims and I was told that I can put 20s on and it won't make a difference or change to the speedometer I was wondering if that was true or not cuz it just doesn't seem right to me but can someone shed some light on this issue of mine thanx

The rim won't have an affect if you can get a tire size that matches the outside diameter of the ones that came stock. I think 20" wheels were optional so you should be able to get a tire diameter that matches. Most of the time it doesn't make that much difference, I have 2 sizes bigger tire on mine with the 17" wheels and it only makes about a 1mph difference according to my GPS.

It's the circumference of the tire... or simply- tire height that determines how many revolution as calibrated with the speedo and not the wheel size. You can have a 20" wheel with a lower profile tire that equals the overall height of a 17" wheel with a taller tire. Most tire companies have the tire specs available on their sites. Tire size also affects gearing and mileage...
