I have an '84 4WD. Mild lift, nothing crazy. I call it the Behemoth. Love that beast. It was the only vehicle I had at the time that didn't get water inside when Katrina dropped in. Anyway, pull all vacuum lines off. All you need is the vacuum line that runs from the carb to the distributor (vital for tuning) and the big line that runs to the power brake booster. One other big vacuum line is the PCV line connected to one valve cover. Pop that valve out and shake it. If it doesn't rattle, replace it. Typically, one big line is plumbed to the vacuum tree on the driver side of the intake manifold and the other (usually the PCV) is run into the carburetor base. Not much else to it. If your carb has any vacuum line associated with the choke (would be about 5 inches long and running from one spot on carb to another place on carb) leave it on. Cap or plug everything else. I haven't looked, but you may be able to get a non-EGR version of that intake manifold. Then you wouldn't need to make a block-off plate. The taps for the air injection holes should be 5/16 inch. You'll need 8 bolts....set screw type....headless, so it'll flush down and you'll have no interference issues.
My future plans involve pulling the 727 automatic and swapping in an E48 318 package with stick shift. I have an RC that took a beating after rolling several times (not by my hand), and it has the E48 engine. That is the ONLY factory 4BBL carb 318 smallblock ever made. It's what hot rodders did to soup up the 318. It has the 360 heads and intake from the factory. Since the 727 is getting tired and leaking, and I always wanted a manual trans, and it's a period-correct match, I'm gonna swap it. Funny thing. That badly rolled RC still has all intact windows. Amazing.
The Stealth is a lotta intake for a stock 318LA. The cam is tiny. Your low-end power will suffer with that intake and a stock cam.
