I've inherited my Dad's old pickup, and it has a few "issues". One of which is a problem that plagued him since he bought the truck new. It's a Prospector model with a simple AM radio. The radio would get an awful squawking interferrence from time to time. He had it replaced at least once, and when I got it, it got so mad I whacked it so now it no longer gets any reception;). The noise now is constant, but the whole radio turns off (clock included) if I turn on the headlights. The other, possibly related symptoms are a loud buzzing that comes from behind the dash to the left of the cigarette lighter (some kind of relay or regulator is behind there) that happens intermittently, but seems like it only can occur when the lights and wipers are on. Also, the emergency flashers don't blink, even after changing the "can".

I know this is a lot to diagnose from a forum post, but thought maybe there's a known issue that could tie all this together, like the do-dad behind the dash.

I had a similar issue when i first got my d150 stepside, lay on ur back and look straight up under the dash near where the radio sits, i had a ground wire that eventually rubbed the coating off and was touching metal and popping fuses and causing crazy issues. If not that i have heard of a few fuse blocks getting overheated and melting causing weird things too. Good luck bud!

Thanks, I'll get out my flashlight and have a look.
