Recently my 1998 Dodge ram sport started having intermittent rpm surging.
1st time - hit some railroad track rpm surged 1000-2000K then immediatley went back to normal. It was almost like it shifted into neutral while my foot was on the gas.
2nd time - on the way into work this morning cruising about 45-50mph the rpms jumped 1000-1500 and then went back to normal.
Typically the truck is in OD when this happens. Before I start nickel and diming a fix does anyone have an idea where to start? Is the transmission bad? The dummy light is not on - so any advice would surley help. I have seen some posts about the TPS but not sure if it will fix it?
Finally - my truck only gets 10-11 piles per gallon any ideas to improve the MPG's?
Thanks for looking and any advice would be highly appreciated.
