newbie with a Hemi - (that can be dangerous!). First issue does not give a trouble code- dead stop then make a hard left turn across traffic quick, and it stalls. Punch it going up a hill and let off and it can stall. Not every time, I can't seem to duplicate it at will, just every once in a while. Gas tank is full. Second, now got a Check Engine Light, I opened hood, and it's there! Serious, the CEL code is P0420 & P0430, cat def in both banks. How to tell if Cat Conv is original, body has 330,775mi? Looks welded together, can it be hacksawed and a new one inserted? How to tell? This is still fun to drive, VAROOM!

If you get a Diablo tuner, (hemifever) can delete the cats for you. You might just need O2 sensors. If you don't have smog testing like (Maine) you can gut out the cat/cats and weld in a straight pipe inside the cat to improve flow. If you get it to Maine, I have an excellent hemi guy, has a Mustang dyno and has built some of the fastest LX cars ever.Yes you can cut in and install a new cat, but it might just be the o2's .It's not the miles, it's how you take care of it. Got almost 300,000 miles on my hemi Magnum, still mint.
