Hello, I asked this question in the "leveling" section and didn't get much response. That section seems to be more about raising the front than lowering the rear to level. Anyway, I am considering a Ground Force 2" rear drop but want to make sure I can still use the truck to tow our 5K to 6k lbs. travel trailer. I would also install Air Ride 1000 bags to help. Does anyone have any experience towing this type of load with a 2" rear drop? Thanks in advance for any response.

I used the GF 2" lowering on my RC, yes, get the airbags. The truck squatted when I hauled a car on a flatbed, so Id add airbags for sure. The 2" drop does make a nice addition to the trucks, makes them look better IMHO>

I'm using Hellwig's Powerlift Airspring kit #6298. Replaces the coil springs with airbags. Works excellent unloaded or towing. I add about 5-10psi when towing my race truck and it always keeps the truck at a levelled ride height. I've tried cut coils with the bag inserts, but the Hellwig kit works much better. You can also get #6299 which comes with onboard compressor and ride height sensors.

The Hellwig looks like a high quality kit. Will it allow the truck to sit 2" lower when unloaded?

I adjust the air pressure in the bags to maintain the 2" rear drop and a level stance unloaded or towing a trailer. Works great.

Dustin, this is exactly what I want to do: Hellwig 6298 kit running with a 2" drop for the rear so it rides level when unloaded. Air it up when I need to haul or tow so it is level then as well. When riding with a 2" drop in the rear all the time, do you need to use modified sway bar end links and a traction bar relocator like in a McGaughy's drop kit?

I have the 2" Ground Force on RCSB, it's ok with less than 500lbs. I just order the Air lift 1000 #60824. I'm NOT pulling a 5 - 6 thousand pound trailer. If I did, I would use a set of lifting bars for the trailer. Any manufacture would do. I would also make sure I had electric brakes.
