20" stock rims with big tires

Im very new to nig tires and trucks and need some guidance guys.
Will my stock 20 chrome rims be able to fit tires 305/55/20 or 315/65/20?
If so, do the wheels need to be spaced out at all?

OPINIONS= will they even look good?

Thank you!

im running 305/55/20 on my stock rims and i had to use spacers but thats only because the tires i have they have a pretty agressive sidewall so thats why i needed spacers

Which 20's are they? The first tire size you listed is just over 33" tall and 12" wide, I wouldn't run that tire on a wheel less than 9" wide, You might get away with a 8.5" wheel, but I wouldn't recommend that. Maybe if it was a 35" tire. The second tire you listed (very uncommon if exists) is just over 36" tall and almost 12.5" wide. Same goes for wheel width on that. Did you mean 315/55/20 because thats closer to the first tire size you posted, but I still wouldn't go less than 9" wide on the wheel.
thanks for the help! yes i made a mistake on the last tire size lol
thank a lot for the help! what size spacers did u need to put on so no rubbing?
It looks like you can get away with a 1/4" spacer according to the sticky above. Ill measure my spacer when I go outside. I am running 35x12.5x20's my spacer is larger than 15mm because I have built in studs, but ill measure and report back.
Anything wider than a 285 will likely rub on the upper control arm but a 1/4" spacer should fix that. You have a couple of options on spacers. You can go with the $30-40 generics...they can sometimes cause vibrations at speed but a lot of folks run them with no issues. Or you can go with the $200 top quality custom spacers that are hub and wheel centric and virtually eliminate any chance of issues. I personally like a taller tire like a 295/60 or 295/65. Check this thread...he has additional pics on the last page.

I have 305/55/20 with the stock 20's and a 2 inch level and do not have any rubbing... you will more than likely need to level your truck to fit these because of the width, size wise they will look good

also your stock 20's are 9 inches wide incase of any confusion, I would not run a 12.5" wide tire on anything less than 8.5 for future reference.

I may be wrong but I think the likely reason you can fit 305s is because your truck is a 2004 and has the torsion bar front suspension. The 2006 and up do not have torsion bars and the upper control arm is the width obstacle on these trucks. Also, the leveling kit doesn't really have anything to do with how wide of a tire you can run...just how tall. I bet you could run a 305/55 on your 2004 without the level and I bet you could run a 305 on a 2006 and up with 1/4" spacers and no level.

True because the 305x55's are just slightly taller than stock (33.2 vs 33).

On a side note I measured my spacer today and it comes in at 1".
Just updating from my above post.
