so i got the 1996 ram 1500 (5 lug) and i want to know what i would have to do to get the 2005 ram 20s to fit

Take your old wheels off and mount the new ones. Torque to proper spec.

They are a bolt on, same pattern, seen a few trucks with them already.

i was told by some people i would have to do something to the hub to make them fit

It's the same lug pattern, can't see how they would've changed the hub size, but there is one sure way to find out. Measure your hub, then the inside of the wheel.

I have a 2005 slt and i let my buddy with a '97 use my full size spare. Now he has 2009 20's on his '97. It was a direct bolt on.

Like previously said, they're still 5 on 5.5. There's a guy down the street from me with a 97 Ram running the "Flower Petal" wheels
