Plastidip the center, cant hurt lol
I would paint paint the center if I were to go black. I'd like that glossy look to it rather than the matte. I was seriously about to go out and color match the grille.

WOW have a MEGA CAB my self . Are you happy with the HID lights . A truck last night had them beside me looked like my headlights were off . Need help any advise

Looks good? Can't wait to see some day time pictures!

I will have some tomorrow, first thing, and i'll have it washed! Stupid farmers mess all the roads up around me, just to get to work gets my truck filthy.

Very cool thread millon, your trucks looks AWESOME! A lot of attention to detail, you even color matched some things I would never have thought of which really look great on a grey truck, the wiper cowl for one but the headlights turned out sweet too!

Thanks! I am a stickler when it comes to details like that. Some say a bit too much.

Nice million how did you get the chrome off
Believe it or not, I didn't. Chrome was not coming off at all, so I just scuffed it up as much as I could, as it wasn't scratching very easily, primed it, twice, and painted. Seems to have stuck pretty well, however I need to put at least 3 more coats of clear on it.

for sure post pics of the finished product. Maddog told me to use oven cleaner to get the chrome and and he said it came off pretty easily

That's probably not a bad idea. I woulda tried it if I knew of that trick earlier. I tried sanding it with 150 grit, and it really took some effort to scratch it. Instead of using the adhesion promoter first, I used a sandable primer to get a good sticky base over the chrome. It seemed to work pretty well, truck went through a touchless car wash this morning, and the paint survived the high pressure water.

yeah I plan on doing some at some point but since I need my truck everyday I'm trying to find an extra set to take my time on.

looks good man i see you color matched your grille hope its adhered good grilles take a beating i had some adhesion problems when i color matched mine had to wet sand it after 2 months and spray another coat.

I figure it will take some regular maintenance, but that's the name of the game when you change stuff around right?
