Hello guys I need a little help, I want to lift and level my 07 1500 2wd ram. The local shop said its not possible to lift and level it. Also I was told if you lift a 2wd you must change gears in the rear end? How much am I looking at to do this project? I like everyone else don’t want to spend a lot of money on this, however I don’t want any future problems either. I cant find anything very informing online... I don’t understand what all I need.. Thanks in advance...

I have a kit for sale $550.00 shipped - removed it off my 2wd 2005 ram 1500 -
Doetsch 4in lift spindles and 2 1/2 in blks for the rear.
On my year, (2005) I didnt need extended brake lines or wheel spacers. I have pics of the truck on here with the lift on it.

I didnt have to chg gears...Truck was fine - did lose a little steering radius though

yeah there are plenty of ways to lift a 2wd 1500 it doesnt sound like your shop knows what they are talking about at all. You can do a spindle life like lficke said, you can also do a body lift, if you get the premium kit it lifts and levels the truck, procomp makes a 6 inch suspension system lift and on top of all that nothing about lifting your truck says you MUST change your gear ratio. I lifted mine and put 35x12.50x20's on it and I'm running the stock 3.92 gear ratio. I WANT to change the gears to 4.56s but nothing about lifting my truck said I had to

Agreed the shop you went to, either doesn't know what they are talking about, or was just trying to take advantage of your lack of knowledge on the subject.

Thank everyone for the response. I'm not sure what happen but my post got re-worded a little. I'm going with a 6 inch suspension by pro comp and 34 inch tires, due to my 392 gear ratio. What the shop said was the lift will cause wear. I was also told wheel bearings will be short lived. However summit racing and pro conp said that is not true. They said nothing would wear any faster than of it was stock. So whos right, the shop or summit racing??

I have a 2007 2wd 1500 with a 6" Pro Comp lift. I love the lift. You'll be very happy with it. I have a 4wheelparts.com store near by. I was lucky enough to get a rebate offer on the install and lift kit. You may want to shop around for a good price.

I did have to replace one of my bearings about 3 months after the install. I'm not sure if it was because of the lift, or just wear and tear.

What you WILL need to check is the clearance on your rims. If you're running the stock 20"s, you will not be able to fit the Pro-Comp lift on it. I had to replace my 20"s with aftermarket rims. You may need to run spacers or replace your rims.

Depending on your mileage you may want to check the bearings on it. 3.92's with the hemi you should have no problem with a 35x12.5 tire. They sell lifted f150's at a lot where I worked and they sat on 35's without changing the stock gears. I drove a few while having a little less jump off the line they still drove good. I plan to do a lift with 35's on my 09 and I have 3.92's
