how do i know which fuel pump to order for my 2008 1500?
I have the 5.7 with mds and a 26 gal tank.... i'm looking on rock auto
and they have tons of options but none mention everything. (some say 26 gal,
some say mds, etc....)
the shop said $1300 to fix it including a $900 part cost. that sounds crazy!
help me save money!!!

thanks

Total BS!! Mine failed at 250,000 miles. I got one at AutoZone, they had one right on the shelf. The pump was around $100, maybe a bit more, the tow to my mechanic cost $100 , I'd forgotten that I had AAA:4-dontknow: To drop the tank, and replace the pump took my mechanic 1 hour! $50/ hr. So around $250 including the tow. BTW, in Maine, my dealer charges $70/ hr. Hell, you could put a full race fuel pump in for a supercharger for maybe $500. My mechanic builds lots of race hemis, btw. Has a Mustang Dyno, one of the first guys to dyno tune hemis before anyone even had a tuner, he used SCT Ford tuning on blown hemis until Diablo cracked the code.

thanks i thought that sounded a little wild. wish your mechanic was closer! lol
I'm fed up with shops and have decided to do the thing myself but ordering the right fuel pump still feels impossible when looking online.

so back to the thread so everyone knows, the pump from the dealer here in Central Florida is $477. just wanted to add that note in case someone else is having the same issue. $1300 is way to high even at the dealer.

if you go to Rock Auto you will find the pump as DELPHI FG1427
which retails for $152.89 thats a long way from $900!! dealers wont use places like rock auto, they only want to sell OE parts. Its a lot easier for them to warranty a repair.
