got a 2008 1500 dodge ram.when trying to put it into 4 wheel drive it doesnt go in.it is not manual.so you turn the knob to 4 wheel hi and the light blinks. so we checked and the transfer case actuator is working, but the front axle one was not. check the wires and at first they was doing what they should be doing but actuator still not working so replaced front actuator. checked plug again and one wire was not working as before so we kept messing with stuff and for some reason it worked plugged it in and the actuator worked fine.turned it off and it worked fine again. turned it on and didnt work.at this point we are doing it with the ignition on but truck not running.so we said it has to be the switch, nope not the switch same stuff.so we gave up for the day.leaving to go home i was pulling out of the drive and i tried it acouple of times and it wouldnt work.on the way home driving around 50 mph i tried it and it worked 11 times in a row when i pulled in my drive way i stopped turned it to 4wheel hi and it went in,turned it to 4 wheel lo and once i put it into park it worked too. weird but ok maybe fixed.later i had to move the horse trailer so i tried it againit started to blink when i put it into 4 wheeel hi,but when i changed th shifter from drive to nuetral then reverse it would lock in.ok still working.went to dinner tried it 6 times and it quit working again. all i know is at the plug at the front actuator there is 4 wires,1 hot wire and when i touch 2 of the other ones and my test light lights up the actuator works, when itouch them same two wires and one of them doesnt light up the test light the actuator doesnt work. so i know what is causing it not to work put i dont know what is causing the problem with the wire. i think it is a ground wire but not sure.followed it all the way back and i loose it at the main pug under dash. any ideas on what could be going on?
