Dealer told me today that they do not make OEM anti-theft system for the 4th gen Rams. Seems rediculous to me, anyone have any clue? Has anyone been able to add an aftermarket anti-theft that works off the existing key fob?

my audio guy also does alarm systems
he told me that VIPER & a few other companies make alarms that will work on my 2009, he said if i didn't mind carrying a 2nd FOB, i could get what I WANTED, thats because of the remote start that mine has, he also said that that he MIGHT be able to set it up so that 1 FOB would work, no promises

Or are you talking about an 'add-on' alarm?

i was lookin for something a little more protective than the door handle and ignition alarm. There have been some window breaks in my neighborhood lately and im lookin for something that goes off if the truck is hit or scratched.

I have done some digging and found that you can add ANY aftermarket alarm system to the '09 and beyond Ram.

If you install this interface module: http://www.bypassevolution.com/ You can then install any aftermarket alarm system. It allows for remote start, door lock etc. I will replace your existing system. However, you will need to have a "key" to start your truck.

Those of us without RKE we just use our original key.

I hope this helps.

First off, great info...

What do you mean by "key"?

you MAY have to carry 2 keys, 1 for the Rams ignition & one for a REAL security system

a crook can completely strip your Ram where it sits, if they move it or try to start it, systems shut down

Thinking to much?

Wecoyote, thanks for the answer. I use a FOB now to start my truck, so do you mean that I have to leave a "key" at the alarm immoblerized to "fool" the system into thinking there is a key in or at the ignition? Many aftermarket alarm systems require the valet key to operate and they have the "loop" wire around the ignition switch that fools the system into thinking that a key is present in order for remote start to work. Maybe I am thinking too much on this one...
