A bearing in the steering column in my 2010 RAM failed at about 100k miles. I found a wrecked truck in a junk yard with less than 10k on it and bought the column. When I initially remove the wheel and clock spring, the ABS and Traction Control Lights came on. Both still functioned, and I figured the lights would go out after replacing the column and driving for a bit.
It turns out that the local shop I had replace the column did not center the clock spring before re-installing with the new column and now my airbag light is on - broke the wire internally when I turned the wheel
I have the original clock spring that we removed from the truck and a continuity test confirms that everything is intact. I centered it and used a zip tie to hold it before removing from the old column. After I replace the faulty clock spring today, is there anything i can do without a scan tool to clear the ABS codes and reset the lights on ABS and Traction Control?
If the solution is to drive it for xx distance, that is not a problem - truck has 156k on it and no moss on the tires....
I swapped out the clock spring and both lights are still lit after about ten miles of driving. Just tried the following and will see if lights are gone when I drive home: 1. Turned key on. 2. Turned wheel to right lock. 3. Turned wheel to left lock. 4. Re-centered wheel. 5. Turned key off.
Thanks
