A bearing in the steering column in my 2010 RAM failed at about 100k miles. I found a wrecked truck in a junk yard with less than 10k on it and bought the column. When I initially remove the wheel and clock spring, the ABS and Traction Control Lights came on. Both still functioned, and I figured the lights would go out after replacing the column and driving for a bit.

It turns out that the local shop I had replace the column did not center the clock spring before re-installing with the new column and now my airbag light is on - broke the wire internally when I turned the wheel

I have the original clock spring that we removed from the truck and a continuity test confirms that everything is intact. I centered it and used a zip tie to hold it before removing from the old column. After I replace the faulty clock spring today, is there anything i can do without a scan tool to clear the ABS codes and reset the lights on ABS and Traction Control?

If the solution is to drive it for xx distance, that is not a problem - truck has 156k on it and no moss on the tires....

I swapped out the clock spring and both lights are still lit after about ten miles of driving. Just tried the following and will see if lights are gone when I drive home: 1. Turned key on. 2. Turned wheel to right lock. 3. Turned wheel to left lock. 4. Re-centered wheel. 5. Turned key off.

Thanks

ESP/BAS and Traction Control

150 miles later and both lights are still on. I will have to put the scanner on it tomorrow evening (mine won't read ABS codes) and see if it is still the steering angle sensor.

If anyone has any other ideas I should check, much appreciated.

Update - PLEASE HELP!

Last evening I cleared two codes from the truck and the light went out.

C2205 - Steering Angle Sensor - Not Initialized / Internal
C1240 - STEERING ANGLE SENSOR OVERTRAVEL PERFORMANCE

The ESP/BAS and Traction Control lights went out and I gave the scanner back to the owner and drove away. After about 1/2 mile, the brake pedal started pulsating (felt like the abs), both lights came back on, then the brake pedal stopped pulsating. I nailed the brakes and gas this AM in mud and both ABS and traction control are working, I just have these two lights.

Since I had the entire column replaced, and then replaced the clock spring, I am thinking that the connector between the column harness and ECM for the steering angle sensor circuit could be loose/disconnected. The issue is that I am not sure which one it is... could someone post description/pictures for location? I am sure it is somewhere up under the dash, but just not sure which one.
