Just wondering if anyone knows why my gas gauge pegs out on empty and doesn't register any fuel and a few times now I can drive it for a few miles and it just starts working.

Also 3 times now in the past 6 months i have been driving and taking off from a dead stop at a stop sign and when it shifts into 2nd gear it revs up to about 3500 rpm and drops back quickly. It almost feels like a stall converter in 2nd (weird) but the last time the wife was with me and it was enough that she was getting on to me for "hot roding" my truck so its definitely not just a quick upshift.

Well it died on me today. After work it started right up and I drove it for 4 miles and took off from a stop sign and it just died, not sputtered and coasted to a stop, DEAD died. Called a wrecker and had it towed to the dealership but now I'm reading that its not covered under the warranty because its not an internal part of the engine. I did a google search and apparently this is a very common issue with the 2011 Ram. 57k miles and I'm having 110k mile problems.

Could Be.............

Mine wouldn't start in my driveway a couple weeks ago. Had a wrecker come down and boost it.

It started right up so when I tried to drive it in my garage (after he left) it just DIED while in motion.

So I too ended up on a flatbed for a ride to the dealer (heartbreaking site) and it just turned out I needed a new battery.

Been good so far.

Electronics will act real strange when it doesn't get enough juice to operate.

I'm betting your battery went to battery heaven.:4-dontknow:

Yup. I had the same thing happen on a different vehicle. Everything is computer controller these days. A dead or almost dead battery will cause all kinds of weird stuff to happen. Were you still running your factory battery from 2011? If so, I would bet money on a dead battery and that's just maintenance. Hope that's what it is and not anything serious. Good luck.

FUEL PUMP MODULE complete failure is what the ticket said.
I had to replace the entire drop in unit, $629 later and back on the road. I have been researching and there was a huge amount of 2011 rams with the 5.7 that have this problem. I guess they cheeped out on a different brand that year they transitioned fro Dodge to Ram.
Anyways if all your gauges are working fine but the gas gauge reads completely dry you may want to stay close to home.

I had the same exact issue with my 2011 at 38,000 miles. The fuel gauge showed incorrect/random readings for months then towards the end showed "low" fuel a couple of times. A few days later it died on me on the way to work. Mine was covered under warranty but it took my dealer 3 weeks to get the fuel pump in! Their initial ETA was 2-3 months...apparently there is a shortage on these and it is not uncommon to have to wait that long to get a replacement. Fast forward to today's time roughly a year later it is starting to have the starting signs of going out again. (currently only have 51,000 miles on it)
