Ok I have read several threads about uconnect issues. I just bought a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 today with the RHB nav in it. I have tried to get my iphone 5 to connect to it but it fails when I enter the pin. This seems to be a different issue than others are having so I don't know if I need an update or if something else is going on. Any advice/help is much appreciated and thank you in advance for your time. I know there has been much help gained in these threads so I have hope that I can get this resolved as well.

can you explain what fails? What acually happens when you put the pin code in? IS it possible for you to video your pairing process and post it? This may help a lot. Thanks

Unfortunately I cant video it but I go through the process on uconnect and then it tells me to start pairing on my phone. I see the uconnect on BT and try to pair to it. It asks for pin I put in the pin number I gave it. Then it comes back immediately with pairing failure please make sure uconnect is on and your within range. I'm sitting in the drivers seat when I do this. I have tried the updates you have in the threads and when I try those it comes back with used digital signature invalid for library or something like that. I cant remember the exact verbage on it but its close to that.

Ok, I know this issue. I have seen it usually the very first time you complete pairing of an iPhone to Uconnect. I have been seeing this since the iPhone SW version 4.20 a couple years back. For some reason Apple is requesting a disconnect and then Uconnect will force a connection. When you see that blue box pop up, just select (tap) "OK". You'll then see that Uconnect is connected on the phone screen. See the video below.

Well good news the dealer I bought it from took it to a dodge dealer for some work that I wanted done and asked him to have them update radio and uconnect now I dunno if they did or not but it did just like the video a minute ago so now it pairs up. Now I just need to figure out how to use all the features and stream music etc.

Well, there are 2 different Uconnect SW updates for the 2011 unit. (The radio is separate from the Uconnect module and each have their own SW versions). One way to see if they applied them would be to plug in the iPhone to the docking cable and try playing the music on the iPod section of the phone. Does Uconnect read and then start playing or does it try to read and then says "error reading"? If it reads and then plays, then at least the main update has been done.

Well they didn't do any updates. The service guy said the latest update messes up the radio and dodge has told them not to load it because it basically makes the radio a brick. He said to wait till the next update. I have check some of the functionality of the streaming and it sounds like a skipping CD. When I turn the screen off on the phone it plays normally. When I get a message or something and the screen turns back on it goes back to sounding like a skipped CD. It seems to do voice commands as it like voice dialing. That seems to work alright. I haven't checked plugging phone into port yet to see if its recognized yet or not. When I do that don't I have to use the port in the glove box and not the port on the radio? is that correct or was I dreaming? I thought I read somewhere it had to be the glove box but maybe I'm mistaken on that. That's where I am in this whole process though. I thought I saw the update for the skipping and tried it but when I did it said something like used digital signature doesn't match library or something to that effect. I'm doing a restore on my phone right now when that's done I'll try plugging into port and see if its recognized.

The update that they're referring to is the latest for the radio and not for Uconnect.
1) The skipping that you're having will be fixed by doing the Uconnect update, after the first update is done, then there is a 2nd Uconnect update that enhances BT streaming audio.
2) You're correct about using the USB connector in the glovebox and not on the radio. This is because the radio itself doesn't support media devices other than a thumb drive. The Uconnect USB connector is what supports the media devices.
3) go this link and you'll find my thread with the 2011 updates. http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=127060&highlight=2011+uconnect+update

4) I have seen people have issues with the update being applied when they tried a different thumb drive. Try a different one.

Ok update! I downloaded both updates and they both installed with a new USB thumbdrive. Streaming was a LOT better and sounded good too. I haven't checked plugging my phone into port and seeing if it will work off cable yet I'll do that later I'm tired tonight lol. The updates worked though and I'm happy for that! I guess they must have updated something in the uconnect because its done a lot better job than when I first got the truck. Thanks for all your help its been much appreciated! I'm a much happier camper now. I tested the streaming and no skips, sounds good. Now just to play with it more and get use to it. Still trying to learn all the commands that are available on it. I might have to find a cheat sheet somewhere till I get use to whats available to me. I hope this thread helps out others that haven't had any updates like mine did.

That's great news. Glad that it all worked out for you.
As for having to use a different thumb drive, I think there must be some kind of hidden file even when you format them. I just know that people have had good results using a new one when they had issues.
On the BT streaming skipping, I have noticed that Apple devices will do this more so than Android devices for some reason. This happens when there is a packet dropped when the phone is sending the packets to Uconnect. I have read that the clock speed on the iPhone is a bit faster than some phones and also Some BTcarkits. So the timing gets out of sync.
