2012 2500 leveling kit

I have spent a week looking and reading before asking my first question here, so I'm sorry if this has been asked already:

I have a 2012 2500HD 4x4 and want to level the front end. Will I need an alignment with the solid axle? will I need new shocks because the factory shocks will be near the top of their travel?
