bought my 1500 Quad about three weeks ago and i stared to notice a slight thump that you can feel like in the back of the truck it only happens when i stop almost feels like someone would bump you with their car doesnt happen all the time.. any input thanks!:smileup: Love This Truck!!

this seems to happen to a lot of these trucks. some say it has to do with the hill assist while others think it has do to do with gas sloshing in the tank. either way it sucks. i have not been able to make it stop

Mine does that too. Was told it was the gas moving around in the tank when you come to a stop. Doesn't do it when the tank is full or almost empty. BTW, I have the 32 gal tank.

I have had my 12 SXT for about 3 weeks also,and have just started to notice the same `thump`.If you have the 32 gal. fuel tank,and the fuel level is between 1/2 & 3/4 ,this seems to be a common issue. It may be fuel sloshing that you are hearing/feeling.Others on this forum have said that they turn off their hill start assist,(from the EVIC) and the problem disappeared.Let the fuel level go below 1/2 and see if it improves.It may be caused by the lack of baffles in the tank.I am a Service Tech at a Chrysler dealership and have never seen baffles in any plastic fuel tank yet.Other than the occasional thump,I don`t see any cause for concern,and is not detrimental to the vehicle. Its the fuel in the Larger tank. Mne does it, it isnt that big of a bump but i feel it.

Yeah it sounds like from everything I have read it appears to be the fuel in the tank sloshing around.....Touch wood I haven't noticed that in my RAM as of yet....

It must be from the larger tank I have a 20 gallon tank on mine and I have not noticed any of the issues described here.

This is supposed to be most noticable when the tank is 3/4 to 1/2 full of gas in the 32 gal tank. Im used to it by now no big deal to me anymore. The only problem is when it stops doing it i know im about due for a big fuel bill soon. LOL

I wonder if their maybe 2 causes. I have the 26 gal tank and this has happened to me infrequently in the past and if I can remember correctly I stopped at a light going up on one of those steep Seattle down town hills and as the lurch seems to knock you forward and not back it could not be the gas.

Same thing on mine, but only happened once. It felt like I had a box in the bed that slid and hit the tailgate. Hasn't happened again.

Another Thumber

My Dodge was recently in an accident in which the truck was pushed over a curb. The truck was repaired by both the bodyshop and by Dodge. Dodge replaced the left side A-frame and a control arm bushing. The truck was making a thumbing noise when the wheel is turned to the left or right especially going over dips with the wheel turned. Supposedly it was repaired by Dodge and now the noise and feel is back. Any ideas on what it could be would be helpful.
