right on the top of the tailgate that was a lil rib that sat right were the screws were supposed to go so you kinda had to angle the screws around it

Yeah, I just put mine in on Monday after telling the dealer I did not want the drop-in plastic POS liner. I put the top row of fasteners right on that bead line. Took some doing to pre-drill the holes so they didn't end up on the curve, but an automatic centering punch does wonders in this situation. Love how much better this mat was tailored to my truck compared to the one I had in my 2000 Ram.

if that is a rubber matt, take out every so often and clean the bed, otherwise trapped moisture will cause rust. ask me how i know!

That's one of the reasons I didn't want the drop-in liner. It was only in the truck for 3 weeks, but after it was removed there were all kinds of residue from water puddling underneath it. The rubber lets some air flow in to evaporate the water, but being able to easily remove and clean under it is a bonus. Not to mention, stuff stays put on it whereas things slide all over the place with the plastic drop-in.

yea you have to drill one 1/8" hole other wise you use the screws already there

theyre definetly worth it just to protect your paint from the rocks that get thrown...ive already found a couple chips :smiledown:

I installed the same mud guards and they were great for few days of winter and salt we got, now i ordered the fender flares to go on them but will have to modify them to fit with the mud guards. As for the installation of the mud guards, I had no modifications to make, no extra holes to make, it uses the screws that were already on my truck and the plastic clips that held the little plastic piece I had to remove to put those guards on. I kept all the spare pieces in case one day i change my mind and remove them.
For the rubber mat, looks nice, great for dent protection but I tend to think like huntergreen, you might want to pull it up every now and then to see how the bed is feeling with a condom over it.

Just added some huskys to mine today, on the back use a short screwdriver the screws will self tap into the plastic for the middle undrilled location.
For the front, I didn't use the 3rd hole. The 2 factory ones hold them in place good enough

As far as the factory mudguards go, there is definitely an additional hole on each one that is supposed to be drilled and it lines up with metal, not plastic. You can still install them without the drilling, but the holes are there nonetheless. I'm waiting for my first tire rotation to do the rears.
I just checked the instructions that came with the mug guards and they do say you need to make a hole, yet when I installed both my front and rear there was already a small plastic black block to screw the screw for the hole that the instructions stipulate on my truck. I did not have to make one? Maybe the SXT trim has that already, I never looked at any other truck but mine. Can someone confirm this if they have an SXT and have installed mud flaps on there truck?

Installing Mopar Splash Gaurds
I installed the Mopar splash gaurds a few days ago,and did not drill any holes at all. The factory screws ,I found, are plenty. My truck is bright white,so I just pressed a dab of black rtv silicone into the vacant extra hole. Both front and rear flaps are very secure and look GREAT! No way I was gonna drill holes in a nice,new truck! Jeff :smiley_thumbs_up:
