My Crew Cab won't spin the tires from a start either. That allows me to STAND on it from a start and not break any laws ie tire chirp. As long as you obey speed limits. I don't think there is a law against acceleration !!!

If that's the case you must have known it was slow from the start so why did you buy it?

Turn off the traction control buuton on your dash!

I still dont think you will be impressed.

I am experiancing the same letdown myself. I really think it is the ECM managing the tourque in first gear. It will be interesting to see what Diablo does with this when they release there new tunner.

That's weird that you didn't get a hard copy of an owner's manual with your truck. My Express also came with the hard copy and cd. The CD isn't really a manual though, it's more like a guide to certain features of your truck. No owner's manual is not that big of a deal. Just go download it from the ram trucks website. I have one on my computer. It's just a PDF file

Press the traction control button on the dash then a squiggly line icon will appear on the instrument cluster. Then stomp on it and and let us know how much rubber you burned. My wimpy little '12 Express with limited slip and 3.55 gears will spin with no problems on dry pavement.

No, unless your SS/T was fairly extensively modded or either your R/T is broken, it wouldn't stand a chance. Those trucks are lucky to run 15s stock. Also, put those tiny 17s on your R/T and roast away. Or vice versa, put your 22s on a 5.9 and they will kill it. And I've had two of them so I know what I'm talking about.

But jmr, we have your home-grown dual inlet air intake mod and an aftermarket muffler on our Express', so we're probably turning 10-second 1/4 miles at the moment...LOL!

But seriously, I'm in almost exactly the same boat as your Express with the gearing and LSD. Turn off the traction control and it'll spin those big 20's. In fact it can give you a bit of a scare when you let off, and the tires get a full bite and the truck isn't exactly straight. This truck will pin you to the seat under full throttle. It's a hoot.

sounds like it may be a flux-capacitor issue... I had a problem with mine on my delorean...

just kidding... my tires will chirp a little from a dead stop (have 3.92s) with the traction control turned off... otherwise it will just pull hard...

I found the traction control button yesterday but it rained all day and there were no dry pavements anywhere.

I will give it a shot today once the school buses and traffic ease up.

Let me throw one more wrinkle in: While driving I can rev the engine and let up, and watch the rpms go up, and the trans does not respond. If I hold the accelerator down, after some lag time the trans responds.

As far as the user manual, a hard copy did not come with the truck. Instead there was a CD. Inserting the CD would cause my computer to crash (instant "blue screen"). When I talked to Chrysler they said that this happens a lot. COL (Cry Out Loud)

I wonder if it's possible that you're experiencing some of the trans slipping mentioned recently where the one of the two internal filters are either improperly installed, came loose, or have a failure that's allowing fluid pressure to drop? While this is apparently not common, it's been reported on at least two recent threads.

On your observation that you see rpm's rise while stomping on the gas, are you sure you're not slipping the tires? Wheelspin doesn't always result in the hollywood tire squealing and smoky burnout situation that you might expect, depending on conditions at the time. I'm not saying that you indeed may not have a mechanical issue, just trying to think of all the possibilities.

IT'S A BRAVE NEW WORLD!!!
I LOVE MY TRUCK!!!

I took the traction control off and it is a different truck. Tire spin and acceleration, I love it.

I only had time for a quick test. Will check it out fully later.

I want to thank every one that responded to this post for their help. I was shooting in the dark (no owners manual, new technologies, first new truck in 13 years. etc.) and now I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I can see I have a lot to learn about the new technologies. I have been playing with a 1969 Mercury Marauder 429, 360 HP for the last 10 years, which is a whole different world and, I guess, it affected my expectations. Have patience with me, still learning.

Again (except for the first 3 respondants to this post) thanks to all, I greatly appreciate it.

Ed
