Hello all,

Im just wondering if anyone can help me out with my squeeking brake problem. My brakes started squeeking intermittently at about 13000km. I took the wheels and calipers off to see if i could see anything obvious. Found that the pads had about 90% life and there was nothing on the rotor that i could see. I waited until the noise was happening everytime I stopped (15000km) and took it into the dealership. They sprayed antisqueel on my pads and sent me on my way. As soon as I left the shop, they were squeeking. went back again the next weekend and this time they machiened my rotors. My truck left the dealership not squeeking but within 2 weeks the noise returned. Took my truck back to the dealership for a 3rd time, this time to have the brake pads replaced. After doing the pads, the mechanic said the noise was still there so he machiened the front rotors. Again the truck left the shop not squeeking and on day 6 after having them done, the squeeking returned. I noticed that since the squeeking started, both of my front rotors have scoring on the outer half of them. Im now at 21500km and the dealer is saying that there isnt anything else they can do and pretty much to just deal with it. Im just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or has experienced this before? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Sounds like BS to me. Remove the pads and use CRC "Disc Brake Quiet". It pink, just follow directions. Do it yourself, thumb your nose at the dealer.

I had a bit of a squeak under light braking but just did the dealer recommended brake service at 20,000km and that seemed to solve it. They basically just cleaned & lubed things & deglazed the rotors from what the paperwork says...

I had the same problem, they replaced front and rear pads and rotors. It's been 14,000 klms and still good.
Thank you Carfreak! I think I will push for them to change out the rotors and see if that helps. Clearly machiening them isnt working. Did you happen to notice if your rotors were scored or look out of the ordinary at all before they were replaced?

No, they looked fine. I feel your pain, embarrassing when a new truck squeals like that. Stay on them until it's fixed. From what I understand it's a very common problem.

Hi goldie19, and all,

+1 to hydrex's idea. Brake silencer works well. A bit of a pain because you have to tkae off the pads and apply it to the back of the pads, but it works.

Finally talked my dealership into replacing the front rotors after they replaced the front pads...now 1 week later and the brakes are squeeking again. Getting the run around from Chrysler canada and now the dealership is saying there is nothing else they can do. Does anyone have any advise when it comes to warranty? This is my first time with a warranty on a vehicle and honestly it is the biggest pain in the ass when it comes to Dodge

I'm experiencing the same thing under light braking at very low speed. I've had the 20k km brake service as well, but it didn't change anything. There is bluer grease or something on the calipers, noticed when I was last cleaning the truck. Thought I had hit a blue recycle bag or something and it melted on the caliper. Luckily when I touched it, I clued in. LOL

Hi SShadow,
You got 4WD? Better check the cv joint rubber on the side you found that blue grease on. It is likely leaking.
