Now is the time to get your Snow images in

I don't like a bunch of pavement below your Ram, we all want to see your Rams tires & a bit of pavement, lets see some back ground,, unless your Ram is buried in mud or snow & then we want the whole picture

Remember they will take 2 images for the calendar, if i remember correctly, you can ask the MODS to remove one if you have one that is better towards the end of the year

I have a questions. I'm going to have some pictures taken(by my sister in law) and I sent her the rules, and she had some cool ideas that technically don't break the rules, although I don't know that they follow the intent of the rules. She apparently has some great equipment, and although I don't fully understand how it works, she has a camera that can take a picture like this(and it's not photoshop):

The way I understand it from her description is that the camera takes the picture over a 30 second time frame. The people(or truck, or whatever) in the picture don't move the entire 30 seconds, and someone runs around with a sparkler firework for like 25 seconds and then exits the frame. The camera records only the light from the first say 29 seconds then takes the still picture at the end and combines it. Or something like that....

I don't think this follows the intent of the rules, but she wants to do it so I wanted to ask.....

Wow, that is a neat pic! That's camera technology I haven't seen before so I'm not familiar but sure looks awesome! We just ask for as natural a pic as possible, something that hasn't been altered or appear to have been. That way, it's fair to everyone but also encourages people to really get out there and take some great pics of their truck. :)

too bad that i didn't get a shot of the eclipse 2 weeks ago
there is a hill that i could have parked on, with the eclipse just above it

or something like a picture of
Firefall (Horse Tail Falls), Yosemite National Park, when the sun reflects off the waterfall, with the Ram facing away from it
It looks like LAVA falling from the mountain

or go to the Crazy Horse Mountain carving

hmm I may need to go patriotic and hit up MT Rushmore or crazy horse, its in the.neighborhood.

Cajun, my question is...

in the rules we post up two pictures, then a later rule down the line says if picked must provide a high res photo within one week.

Now is that going to be a whole new picture, or the one originally submitted? Its confusing how it's worded, wouldn't make sense to submit a whole new picture. maybe I'm just reading too much into it...

The picture chosen from the thread that, if voted upon, will be the one used in the calendar. THAT would be the pic we need for you to send us in high resolution.

Technically a shot like this if its done the way you have described follows the rules. How it works (on digital cameras) is the shutter of the lens stays open, for however long you set it to, which allows light to hit the sensor which is how your image is captured. So all its really doing is capturing available light, now granted it is somewhat of an advanced technique and your standard point and shoot cameras probably wont be able to tackle such a feat one would need a DSLR type camera but its within the rule i would say, of course im not an admin so my say doesnt matter  But i would agree with your choice to say its outside the rules just so everyone has a fair shot!

^yeah we took a few, first time she had attempted it. Some turned out ok some not. I submitted other pictures, like you said I don't think these follow the intent of the rules so trying to stay fair.

Here's one of them:

That was supposed to be a heart lol. It's harder than it looks!

My sister in law was happy though she learned a little bit about taking those shots I think, so hopefully she'll do some good ones in the future, of other things.

Is there going to be a slide show this year...?
No, there won't be a slide show this year. It was cool but with so many having problems viewing it, it's best to have one thread where everyone can view it no matter what device they're using and a bit easier for staff to keep track of the votes. :)

Keep those pics handy or keep taking some, we will do it again next year and would love to see you participate as well! :)
