Well to steal his thread a bit, no towing (if any maybe a 2k popup), and daily driver about 90 miles highway every day. Was considering an EcoDiesel for the fuel economy but now thinking might as well go for a fun truck instead. And replacement bumpers on a 1500 will weigh it down.

As huntergreen said a 1500 will suffice your needs and the Ecodiesel is a great option. However I totally understand the want for an HD truck (as I have one). IMO the choice would either be a 1500 with the Hemi or Ecodiesel or a 2500 Cummins. I'd rule out the 6.4L.... It really comes down to what you want to pay and what kind of truck you want.

I'd go with the 1500 with the Eco diesel; it's plenty.

If you want the HD go with the 6.4. Honestly these days, unless you need the pulling power of the Cummins the costs just aren't worth it.

Towing my bass boat once a week and daily driver (commute about 30 miles per day)
With both of you, a 1500 would be fine with a 5.7. Unless your boat is a massive triple axle, the 1500 will tow er fine. If your destined on an hd, I would spend the extra for a cummins

Well seeing as how the price difference between the 6.4 and the Cummings is around $6,500.00 it's going to take a very long time to make up the difference in mpg...MPG's or not a good reason to by a desiel IMO. If you want it just to have it then go for it, but even the 6.4 is overkill for your needs.

Either motor will handle it just fine. The real choice is what engine you WANT.

I enjoy my cummins. But I really doubt I'll ever buy another one.
I still want to be able to get on it and it go but i think ima go 1500. I want a all black truck and the only ram 2500 that comes with black bumpers is the larimie limited which is also the most expensive.
