I am not totally sure of the switch configuration for U.S.A. vehicles, however you can cover the sensor located TDC where the windshield meets the dash and put your lights on Auto. It is no DRLs per se but will function the same way.
Otherwise you may have to go to your dealer and have them reconfigure your vehicle to Canadian Standards regrading DRLs. This will require a flash on their part.
Just like rcmpvet said, I went to my dealer and asked and if you want they can flash it and turn them on, I believe they set it to Canadian mode for that function. I did not have it done because I didn't think it was worth the labor rates right now.
My business requires that my headlights be on when i am Escorting a truck with a Oversize Load, many States have this written into Law
Also in my State, there are Highways that have signs that read Safety Corridor headlights have to be on 7/24, violation costs $213. + court costs. It is also a Point against your drivers license.
So i keep my that little dash mounted dome covered & the headlight switch is on Auto
notice the headlights, this company is in Mississippi
I would think ultimately it would be up to the Judge or Magistrate
The police officer may disagree, depending on the type of day they are having
I actually did not pay the fine in full, the Judge listened to my explanation about it only making sense that i thought all new vehicles had DRLs, because Chevy has had them at least from 1999 & the Judge said that his & his wife's Fords had them too.
He let me pay $55 if i plead guilty, i still had to pay court costs & i received the Point against my Commercial Drivers License.
In California you can't go to Traffic School to get the Point removed if you have a CDL
