According to my dealer I am at D1. Anyone know what exactly that means? I emailed CS on tuesday and they sent me a VIN. My order was placed 7/5 for a CC sport 2wd, no air ride.

Has anyone progressed past D1 yet?

I'm in D1 too, this is what CS told me:

According to our resources your 2014 RAM 1500 SLT is in the status of "Gateline Schedule". All of the materials needed to start the manufacturing build process have been received. Your vehicle should now progress through the scheduling process and on to the build process.

My 2013 order was in D1 status for almost 3 months, until it finally started getting built this week. As of this morning, it is in final inspection.

So, unless they are building 2013's and 2014's at the same time at the Warren plan (who knows?), I would just purely guess that production of 14's has not started yet.

FWIW... From following the forum here, sitting in D1 for for a month, two months or more seems to have been pretty common - at least a few guys were in D1 for over 4 months. Hopefully the 14's move a little bit faster for you guys.

In years past, D1 meant your build was going to happen any day... Usually within a week... They have a projected build date.... These days, it doesn't seem to mean squat!

I had a '13 on order and it made it to D1, then it moved back to D then to C back to D then C again and so on and so forth, while missing multiple scheduled build dates... After a few months of that, I cancelled my order.....

Last time, I ordered before they had started production... I'm looking to order a 14MY now, but I'm thinking I need to wait till production starts... That'll give me an idea of any options that might push a build back.... and I can order accordingly.... possibly waiting even longer to order, which would allow more time for possibly better rebates too....

I ordered 7/4 Sport CC w/ Air Sus. CS told me this:

I see that your order has passed edit, has been accepted within the
system and the order will be scheduled for build once there is
allocation. Having allocation means that there is room in the schedule
for the order.

Once your vehicle has been scheduled and has been assigned a VIN, you
will receive the next email with updates and you will have access to
VOTS.

Allocation my foot! Allocations are assigned to dealers. That's why if a dealer's allocation, on a given vehicle, is say 30, and they try to order #31, they can't do it... They have to wait till the following month to submit that extra order and it'll count towards that next months allocation.

It's more like they're waiting on parts, since sold orders go to the front of the line, if parts are available...

once the Frame is placed on the track & enters the building
they already have several of your color in pieces & they are in the drying booth

At the Warren Assembly Plant, they may be running blue crew cab 4X4s in the morning & red ones that afternoon & silver ones that night
they may do this for a week, then change over to 2 wheel drive Rams & run through the colors
Then they might change over to quad cabs & do the same thing all over again

Mean while down in Saltillo Mexico
they likely start with Regualar Cabs, then 2500s, 3500s, 4500s, 5500s

you just have to wait your turn in either assembly line
Meanwhile hoping that you don't get picked for the dreaded 100% Final Inspection & at the same time have a lot of add-ons, like sun roof, air suspension, nerf bars, spray in liner, etc
The assembly line does not put on the Add-Ons, they are sent to an outside Vendor for those & after they are installed, the Ram goes back to the assembly plant for Final Inspection
Then hopefully it goes right out for Shipping & Delivery :)

Yeah I spoke with my dealer and CS before the email was received and they basically told me they were getting parts together. Is it possible they ordered it to themselves instead of a sold vehicle which could take longer due to allocation? My dealer did not even know they could order 2014s until I made them order mine so I'm thinking I must of been their first order.

It's possible but doubt it... You can have the dealer send you the order, to see.. If it's got your name on it, it was ordered for you.

If had to guess on what part might be holding it up, I'd say it's the air suspension....

This is for a regular cab 4x4. I saw a screen shot of a few of my dealer's orders, he had several quad cabs that showed ship dates in the same range, 8/11-8/16 or so. The crew cabs I saw did not show ship dates or have VONs on them.

Sounds like everything is headed in the right direction on 14s. Also seems like the dates are being thrown around so at least the stories are now lining up

fwiw, my dealer sent me a copy of my updated invoice (POC) this morning and it says "estimated ship date 8/7/2013" although I'm still at D1.

I called CS today to see about the status code of my vehicle. I talked with 2 Reps and a supervisor and none of them were able to pull up any information on my vehicle from my VON. I don't know who or what to believe anymore. 2 1/2 weeks ago they were gathering parts, last week they told me order was past edit phase and waiting to allocate into schedule, today they are unable to find any information on my vehicle using any of their systems/databases and told me to contact dealer. Dealer said when I originally ordered there were restrictions so the placed order did not really go anywhere and the restrictions are released now and emailed me a new priced order confirmation. Though the new one they sent me has sales code DS6S91 and 26L both highlighted for restriction as opposed to the original one I got when I placed the order which only has 26L highlighted as restriction. I don't understand how it went from a status of awaiting to be schedule, to not in system, to the order could not actually gone through due to restrictions. Seems none of them really know what is going on.

What's the "Date Ordered" date on it? That'll tell you if it's a new order or the original order...

BTW, I had something similar happen to me....

I ordered a '13 and everything was going as it was supposed to... Made it to D1 status with VIN assigned. Then it moved back to D, then C then D, then C and so on.... Eventually, Ram CS couldn't find my order. They'd put me on hold and call or check around then would eventually come back to tell me they found the order. The problem was, the order wasn't in their order system but in some sub-system that supposedly only held notes... My dealer would tell me order was still in the order system... After a period of time, I eventually gave up and told the dealer to cancel..

Dealer has told me order is cancelled, but even today when I check VOTS, it's still showing production scheduled....

I'm now waiting to order a '14, but this time, I think I'm going to wait till I know production has started on the HD.....

Still has original date and this one has status code of BX-Good order available for scheduling. I talked with a rep that was actually really helpful and explained how when they search a VON it only brings up the VIN and then the VIN is used to find the status of the vehicle. Since I had no VIN yet assigned the VON does not bring up anything. She also talked to a Ram brand specialist, I think that is what she called it, who told her the 2014s CC have not started yet and will likely be end of August or beginning of Sept for them to start building. Once the building starts I'll receive a VIN and be able to follow it. She also said it depends on what trim level they start with first as well to determine when mine will actually be in production. I have a Sport CC 6'4" bed with air ride, so may be a while. As long as my truck comes equipped the way I ordered it, it will be worth the wait.
