Hey folks,

Been awhile since I had a diesel, and never had the DEF to deal with.

I just got a 2015 Ram 2500 6.7 and was wondering what kind of MPG I could expect, and how many miles I can go before I need to add more DEF?

Thanks in advance, as I'm sure it gets tiring answering dumb questions...

Ray, did you do any mods to get those numbers?
my 2012 6.7 was only getting about 13 as well.
I currently have a 2014 6.4 HEMI, but I am going back to a Diesel in the spring, and am curious.

Sucks you have to add DEF now too damnit.

No mods. With the system changed to DEF, I don't think you get the big fuel consuming regens. Could be wrong though. The DEF isn't a big deal for me. My def tank was less then 3/4's at delivery and I picked up a 2.5 gallon DEF refill at NAPA for 10 bucks when it was on sale and the 2.5 box have the hose attached. Took two minutes to pull the hose out and insert it into the def filler and empty the def box. Easier then I thought and didn't need to fart around with the factory def spout to add the def.

My truck was built in 2/14, I bought it Jul 3rd, 2014 and was concerned with the DEF getting old so I filled it up.

I managed to get 20.9 mpg out of the first tank of diesel.

Topped off the DEF tank, and it hasn't moved from Full yet.

Pretty nice perk to fill up, and see the distance to empty sitting north of 600 miles... And quite the contrast to my old 2012 2500 Hemi. If you had 300 miles on the tank of gas, you'd best be looking for a gas station. ;)

Wait until you tow with it compared to gas.

I hope so... :)

I was getting 9 mpg out of that Hemi with a 1500 pound trailer with a Honda ATV on it.
This is one of the reasons I am upgrading my truck. I had 1500 for 2 years with 5.7 hemi pretty good mileage when empty (18-20 all day long) but towing was a whole different story. Add 8000 lb of toy hauler (loaded) and I was lucky to see 8mpg on flat ground, more realistic driving though head wind and mtn driving typical here in CA and it dropped to 4mpg. Sure it had good power to pull the load, but that hemi is thirsty. I do 200-300 mile trips out here and had enough stressing out about where the next gas station is. So for me its not just the cost of buying all that gas, its the 100 mile range. Add to that the white knuckle experience when getting whipped by cross winds...
Can't wait for my new 3500 6.7 should be arriving next week!
