Engine back fires with a loss of power and smoke from exhaust. Last for 5-10 seconds. Occurs after a stretch of freeway driving at normal speeds when I exit freeway and make a hard turn. No check engine light, no codes in computer.
Dealer wants me to throw parts at it hoping something will fix the problem.

I cut off my muffler and get back fire (I think) when on the highway and letting off the gas. Let me know what the dealer says about it haha Hopefully im wrong because I dont know shit about cars but to me thats what it sounds like.

i would check fuel and spark. also do you have an oil leak, even a minor one. on my 97 every time i went up a hill you could smell oil, just a little. as for cutting off the muffler causing backfire, this is true. i bought my 02 1500 with the tailpipe cut off flush with the muffler and every time you let off the gas it would backfire(to much back pressure . i put a flowmaster super 40 on it with two downward 90s pointing straight at the ground. sounds better than my friend with 10 series flowmaster. but with the bends after the muffler it helps keep air from being pulled back into the pipe causing the backfire or sucking sound.
