I've only owned the Superchips, but I am pleased with it so I voted for it. I have heard lots of good things about the Diablo, but have no experience with it.

superchips is the best canned tune for the 4.7, especially the 08+ 4.7. I believe Edge/superchips are the same company actually.

I've only used SC, but it was on a highly modified car. I wonder what it does or does not do to a mostly stock 07 or earlier 4.7.

SuperChips

I didn't vote because I only used the SC and have nothing to compare it to. I do like the SC. I just updated it and doing research for shift schedules.

I had a hypertech on my hemi and the performance with the premium tune was pretty good. My issue was the lack of other tuning options that it gave. I just got a superchips for my 08 4.7 and I love it. The options are numerous and the performance across the board with all the tunes are very noticeable.

"canned" tunes are ones that are not tuned for your specific vehicle, they are "one size fits all". So what they do is they take a say 2010 ram 4.7L and make a tune for it then sell that tune to everyone out there. It's a good tune, but theoretically not as good as putting your specific vehicle on the dyno and tuning it.

For example, they use stock vehicles to make canned tunes. These tunes work great with intakes/exhausts/etc. But if you have aftermarket cam(s), long tube headers, or other radical mods you'd need a custom tune.

I have very few performance mods and the superchips is great. I actually got a custom tune at one point(web order....not dyno tune) and it wasn't any better than the superchips.

So has anyone actually put a tuner on a 2013 4.7L? I can't find one that specifically states it will work for a 2013. Everything I've found, says it will work with up to a 2010 4.7L. I can't imagine the 2013 is so different one of these would not work, but would like a little confirmation before I shell out $400.

Don't spend your money quite yet.
From everything i've researched on tuners a 2010 tuner won't work on your 2013.
There's a bunch of differances apparently
Bully Dog and Superchips both say phone back towards the middle of March,so i'd hang on till at least then.
Diablo says they aren't doing one for the 2013 4.7's,so it looks like either BD or Superchips are our best bets
You could try phoning both outfits,it probably doesn't hurt to have several guys phoning them,it might speed them up somewhat.

If you do find a tuner, make sure you let the rest of us looking for one know too

my 06 4.7 seems to do better with the superchips 87 tune with trans tuning. trans tuning sure helps a lot versus just the canned tune by itself! normally getting around 20mpg is what the truck is saying haven't hand figured it yet

Maybe but Only if you leave the tune installed if you have the truck in a major Warranty issues.

You would just have to uninstall before you take it in
