You made sure to route the wires correctly? Properly gap the spark plugs? Other than those things are you sure it is not pulling oil? These magnum engines are known for their plenum leaks which pull in oil, but do not always show a vacuum leak with a vacuum gauge.

I gapped the plugs to .035 I have the wires right i just went and double checked haha. i haven't checked the plenum with a gauge I just did the old school thing spraying starting fluid around the throttle body I didn't find anything, I do keep thinking it may be vacuum related though having dealt with those problems on other vehicles but I figured if a vacuum leak was causing this it would have been easier to find considering how bad it is. I could be worng though I will check into it thanks
These engines are known for an internal vacuum leak which generally pulls oil into the combustion chamber via intake manifold. When this happens some pinging usually occurs, but not always. You need to open the butterfly valves shine a light into the intake manifold and look for any signs of oil. If this has the original plenum pan I can pretty much promise you the thing is leaking, they all do. I replaced my gasket and it still leaks. There is a kit you can buy that fixes the problem permanently. Hughes plenum kit.

Oh as far as the wires, I meant the actual routing. Not the firing order. These engines were known for cross firing. There is a TSB that covers this. http://dodgeram.info/tsb/1998/18-48-98/18-48-98-v8.htm

I checked the intake and found no oil but I did order that kit you mentioned it sounds like something worth doing so I don't have to worry about it later. I bought wire looms for it and it really helped the miss is still there but not nearly as bad. I did seafoam it a week ago and the problem has started since then I am wondering now if maybe I clogged the cat up and messed with that front 02 sensor but we will see. The wires were defintatly part of the problem though thanks a lot for that advice I don't always look at the simple stuff first haha
Well that is good news. Oh, make sure the plug wires you use are suppression core wires. Don't use mag wire, they can cause issues. Usually it is simple stuff that causes issues, and I think everyone on here is guilty of skipping the small stuff. I am glad that you have made progress. I will look into my 5.2L diagnostics manual for some insight. I think I covered all bases though. The only thing I can think of since you mentioned this seafoam being the start is possibly an issue with one of the injectors. Maybe some gunk causing a bad spray pattern.
