Easy one of the day.. Go down to your Ram/Dodge dealer with your credit card if you want the MOPAR performance crate engine. Around $5800.00 last time I looked. If not the MOPAR version you can go the Stephens Performance and order a " over the counter version".

Ramfam: did your dad notice any power difference or fuel mpg difference with the rebuild versus his old and Wvcool do u by chance know the difference between the mopar one vs the over the counter one. I know the mopar will come with a warranty but I've found a couple rebuild places with a 70,000 warranty and another place had a 100,000 I thought those were pretty good for rebuilds

The power difference was noticed. Gas mileage was the same. I think they do ship. Im not sure though. My brother had the motor install ed. The stock one blew 1/3 main bearing at 109,000.

Of course the stock engine was a dog from day one. Always made noise, use d oil, leaked oil.

I think in my opinion you can do better with one of the dedicated MOPAR engine shops if you are going rebuild. The main advantage to the MOPAR crate engine is it is all new parts top to bottom. Plus you are getting the last and the best of the MOPAR tech. heads and soda filled valves. JMO.

430 hp out of the box? (wow). Where is that, can I find a 5.2 that puts out 320?

yes 430 would be nice its actually pushing around 370 and around 405 of torque they claim. A new crate engine would be nice but I have to think about the cost as you say they are around 5800 where as this rebuild im looking at is around 1800

I've looked into doing a custom build just not sure if I want to do it all the rebuilds I've been looking at have more hp and torque then the old engine but there also basically a bolt in engine so I won't have to change anything. Now if I could just figure out my trucks gear situation I'd be in good shape
