8.4 Screen System Ponging

Is an update needed? My did the same thing and I updated it, which fixed my issue.

There are several posts about 2018 8.4 radios where the screens are delaminating causing ghost touches. Here is an example:

This ^^ . I had to have my 8.4 replaced in my ‘18 1500 last year. It gets progressively worse and eventually is completely unusable.

To OP - that’s exactly the point mine got to. Hopefully yours isn’t changing a/c settings and a shitload of everything else nonstop. I have the lifetime warranty so mine was switched out for a $100 deductible. They may be financially working with owners now since it’s such a widespread problem. Otherwise, a replacement OEM unit is around $1,200, I believe.

Hi, I had the same exact thing with my 2018. I contacted a friend who works for a Ram dealer and he told me this is a known problem. If it is delaminating, it continues to get worse. He gave me the number for FCA (Ram parent company) and I was able to get a replacement under warranty, even though the truck is no longer under warranty. Since it's a known issues, I think it's easier and cheaper for them do handle it this way than do a recall. It's worth a try. This all just happened this week so I have not had mine replaced yet but the warranty replacement was ordered. Fingers crossed it all goes to plan and is fixed.
