ok I have a 2013 5.7 tradesmen with a ra2 5.0 radio that I swapped for the uconnect 8.4 vp2 DT sxm (non Nav) Apple CarPlay. Absolutely plug and play and looks great but I have no volume control (it’s stuck on vol 20) although I have steering wheel controls that I installed two years ago that worked fine up until this installation of the radio. Infotainment had a 299 dollar bezel that I purchased with a volume button. Waiting on that to arrive, but Now the voice control and phone icon on the front of the steering wheel don’t work either but cruise control works... I disconnected the negative battery terminal and still nothing. Took the 8.4 out and put the old 5.0 radio back in and everything worked again.. help ram Guys also looking for the media hub to activate the Apple CarPlay

Old thread, I know but just wanted to tell you about what happened to me, or what didn't happen.
I also bought one of those units, they're out of the new 2019-and-on RAMs.
I was able to control volume simply because I have the knob on my bezel or trim, whatever that's called. I had the 8.4 unconnect from factory and my truck is a 15 big Horn.
I also lost access to my aftermarket cameras (mirrors, and backup camera). The screen would just show blue and said "camera unavailable" or something like that (this was almost a year ago). That was the main reason why I ultimately removed the new head unit.
I still have the head unit. Don't care too much about steering wheel controls but I need my cameras for sure. Maybe someone knows a fix to this! Fingers crossed.
