Hello. Recently my truck engine dies when brakes applied. Electrical problem not vacuum!! No rear brake lights or turn signals. Rear cab light works. With ignition switch turned on(engine not running) rear running and tag lights dimly illuminated. Engine on no rear lights. If brake petal applied kills motor. Front turn signal work. Headlights kill motor. If running and rear bulbs removed kills motor !!
Will not restart unless lamps reinstalled. Battery and alternator good. Removed all grounds cleaned and reinstalled. Brake pedal switch replaced. All fused checked and are good. Ignition switch replaced. Towing tee removed. Rear harness plug. Cleaned and reinstalled. Been working on this truck the last 5 days. Driving me nuts. Any ideas??

Sounds like some how some way either the PCM power or your ignition has been wired into the lighting circuits????

IDK bro something in the wiring is definitely FUBAR because that should never happen.

I'd start with the ignition power because it does run so the pcm seems fine. I don't however think this is going to be an easy issue to tackle. Sounds like a lot of hours under a dash chasing and testing wires.

hope you figure it out.

Bulbs should not have anything to do with ignition, You have a major wiring issue problem.
I Agree totally. Only stating what’s going on. But any problem solved!!!!!! Took voltage reading at rear stop light socket. 11.57 volts. Unplugged from harness below tail light socket. Like 5 volts. Ran external ground from passenger side tail light harness ground to tapped connection on bed and bingo everything works as it should. Don’t know why Dodge Ran all independent grounds. Had to just go old school on it!!! Lol. Thanks for all the input

For anyone having electrical problems like me. Shot gun to back feeding a good ground into the circuit

Ole dodge, check out this video from SMA on YT. This person had the same sort of problem when they turned on wipers instead of brakes. So if you’re in a northern state or you have considerable rust under the vehicle, it certainly could be a corrosion issue causing an intermittent short.

It's just low on turn signal fluid.
